Test (the IVF Film)

About

THE STORY Melissa Okey tells the story of her 4 years of trying to get pregnant after the age of 40, including 18 months of infertility treatments. In monologues and recreations, we join Melissa on her surreal, painful, ridiculous, confusing, and heartbreaking quest.

THE BLOG   The screenplay was adapted from Melissa’s hilarious and poignant blog IN SEARCH OF THE ELUSIVE PINK LINE (melissaokey.wordpress.com), which writer/director Courtney Lamb binge-read one day and immediately wanted to turn into a film starring the funniest women she knew.

THE BACKSTORY   Melissa and Courtney met back in The Aughts when they were castmates in BIG NEWS, a long-running weekly sketch comedy show in Hollywood that, along with its spinoff show TOP STORY WEEKLY!, has a large alumni class of talented comedy writers and actors. Other BIG NEWS alumna joined the production, including cast members Ray Stakenas (Melissa’s real-life husband), Rachael Drummond, and 1st AD Kristina Adelmeyer.

THE AUDIENCE   This film is for people experiencing or fearing infertility and those undergoing or considering  IVF or other assisted reproductive technologies. It’s also for their friends and family, to help them better understand this mysterious process and get a realistic sense of how it affects the people undergoing treatment.
